NOVA SERPENTIS 1970
Dr. P. W. Hill, St. Andrews University Observatory, communicates
the following observations by F. Clayton and B. Yare. The
measurements on March 5 and 12 were affected by cloud; on the other
nights the expected errors are not greater than i 0.03. 15-cm
refractor, coude focus; 1P21 photomultiplier; U, B, V filters.
Comparison star 74 Oph, assumed V = 4.86, B-V = +0.90.

     1970 UT V B - V
     Mar. 5.22 5.45: +0.68
           7.18 5.49 +0.74

          18.19 6.02 +0.68

Visual estimates by F. Pilcher, Jacksonville, Illinois,
suggest that there was a slight brightening of perhaps 0.5 magnitude
between March 13 and 16.
