M. P. Candy, Perth Observatory, provides the following elliptical
elements, satisfying observations over a 6-day arc with residuals
1"-5":
T = 1978 Aug. 11.251 ET Peri. = 223.19
e = 0.9812 Node = 289.71 1950.0
q = 1.7617 AU Incl. = 130.58
The correction to the ephemeris on IAUC 3272 amounts to dR.A. = +0m.5,
dDecl. = +16' on Oct. 4.
D. E. Machholz, Los Gatos, California, provides another total
visual magnitude estimate (25-cm reflector): Sept. 21.51 UT, 10.8.
No precise positions have been reported for this comet.
