PERIODIC COMET HOLMES (1979f)
This comet has been recovered by C.-Y. Shao and G. Schwartz
with the 155-cm reflector at Harvard Observatory's Agassiz Station,
and the following precise position is available:
1979 UT R. A. (1950) Decl. m2
July 20.29580 3 43 14.55 +35 49 59.9 19.5
The object is almost stellar in appearance, and in very close
agreement with the predicted position (cf. MPC 4668).
COMET RUSSELL (1979d)
K. S. Russell, U.K. Schmidt Telescope Unit, communicates the
following semiaccurate positions:
1979 UT R. A. (1950) Decl. m1 Observer
July 15.39444 14 57 35.5 + 1 04 15 18 J. Barrow
16.39583 14 59 20.4 + 1 05 55 18 K. S. Russell
The following ephemeris continuation is from orbital elements
that slightly refine those on IAUC 3376. Accurate positions of
this comet are urgently needed.
