TWX 710-320-6842 ASTROGRAM CAM Telephone 617-864-5758 SUPERNOVA IN ANONYMOUS GALAXY J. Maza, Department of Astronomy, University of Chile, telexes that M. Wischnjewsky has discovered a variable object, probably a supernova, in a faint diffuse anonymous object, presumably a galaxy, near the spiral galaxy ESO 366-G 05. The probable supernova is 23" west and 46" south of the center of the presumed galaxy, which is located at R.A. = 6h37m.2, Decl. = -36o38' (equinox 1950.0). The plates taken by Maza show the variable object at mpg = 17 on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 and at mpg = 18 on Dec. 7 and 8. 1980 WF The following precise positions have been reported: 1980 UT R. A.
