Circular No. 3707 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION Postal Address: Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. TWX 710-320-6842 ASTROGRAM CAM Telephone 617-864-5758 SUPERNOVA IN ANONYMOUS GALAXY C. Torres, Department of Astronomy, University of Chile, telexes that M. Wischnjewsky has discovered a supernova in a faint, anonymous galaxy at R. A. 20h23m.3, Decl. -46o19' (1950.0). The object is 10" east and 10" north of the galaxy's nucleus and on June 21 was of photographic magnitude 18.5. WY SAGITTAE H. E. Bond, Department of Physics and Astronomy, Louisiana State University, writes that M. Shara, A. F. J. Moffat, J. McGraw, D. S. Dearborn, he and E. Kemper have found that Weaver's (1951, Ap. J. 113, 320) 19th-mag candidate for WY Sge, the remnant of Nova Sge 1783, is an eclipsing binary with a period of 3h41m. The times of minima are given by HJD 2445137.8993 + 0.1536342 E, on the basis of five eclipse timings made with the Multiple-Mirror, Mont Megantic 1.6-m and Louisiana State University 0.9-m telescopes.
