PROBABLE NOVA IN M31
J. Bryan, Austin, Texas, reports the discovery by M. Brewster
and himself of a probable nova in M31. The object was recorded
on 1982 Dec. 16.2 UT at mag ~ 17.2 and confirmed an hour later.
It is located at R.A. = 0h39m34s, Decl. = +40deg45'05" (equinox
1950.0), between the Hodge dust clouds D-298 and D-267.

The following uncertain orbital elements, by the undersigned,
are from the above observations, which can be satisfied
by Amor-type orbits with e in the range 0.4-0.8. The ephemeris
ought not to be in error by as much as 1 degree. Further
observations, including possible prediscovery ones, are urgently
desired.
