COMET IRAS (1983k)
J. Davies, University of Leicester, reports that the Infrared
Astronomical Satellite has yielded another unusual object, which
K. S. Russell, U.K. Schmidt Telescope Unit, has confirmed (on a
plate taken by J. Dawe) to be yet another comet. Positions are:

PROBABLE SUPERNOVA IN NGC 4220
R. W. Argyle, Royal Greenwich Observatory, telexes that an
exposure on July 6.924 UT showed Wild's probable supernova in NGC
4220 (cf. IAUC 3835) at mpg = 15.2 and yielded the following precise
position: R.A. = 12h13m44s39, Decl. = +48deg09'25" 2 (equinox
1950.0).
U AQUARII
J. Mattei, AAVSO, reports that this R-CrB-type star has
started to fade. Recent visual magnitude estimates are: May 14.4
UT, 11.6 (J. Bortle, Stormville, NY); July 7.2, 12.4 (Bortle);
14.3, 12.6 (C. Scovil, Stamford, CT); 14.3, 12.8 (Bortle). The
last minimum lasted from 1976 (cf. IAUC 2995) to 1979.
