Gibson reports his recovery of this comet with the 1.5-m reflector and CCD at Palomar; the object is well condensed, with a tenuous coma of diameter ~ 8"-10" and a hint of a tail of length ~ 20" in p.a. 70. The indicated correction to the orbit on MPC 8289 is Delta-T = +0.01 day (ephemeris on MPC 9362). 1985 UT R.A. Wheeler, Department of Astronomy, University of Texas, reports that observations by C. Opal and E. Bozyan using a CCD at McDonald Observatory on Apr. 12 UT show that there is indeed a new object 34"8 west and 21"6 north of the nucleus of the galaxy at V = 16.4. The supernova appears as a small, point-like object in 1"2 seeing, and was quite distinct from the nucleus. QSO 1156+295 B. Wills, Department of Astronomy, University of Texas, communicates that W. Wisniewski, University of Arizona, has observed an apparent major outburst of this optically-violent variable quasar (cf. Wills et al. 1983, Ap. J. 274, 62), finding V = 11.9 +/- 0.1 on Apr. 15 UT with the Mount Lemmon 1.5-m reflector. Wills also provides the following B magnitudes obtained by A. Smith et al. at the Rosemary Hill Observatory, University of Florida: Apr. 11, 14.0 +/- 0.16; 16, 14.2 +/- 0.1. The last major flare occurred in early 1981. PERIODIC COMET GIACOBINI-ZINNER (1984e) C. S. Morris and S. J. Edberg report a total visual magnitude estimate of 15.5 was made with the 0.61-m reflector at Table Mountain Observatory on Apr. 13.47 UT. The comet was of diameter ~ 15" and quite diffuse. Astrometric observations are urgently needed in connection with the ICE mission to this comet. An ephemeris is on MPC 9168. 1985 April 18 (4053) Daniel W. E. Green
