Schlegel, Indiana University, communicate: "V794 Aql has varied erratically between mag 14 and 17 for 50 years. In 1980 Szkody et al. (1981, Ap.J. 249, L61) found wide (5.0-7.5 nm) emission lines characteristic of a cataclysmic variable. Using the intensified image-dissector-scanner (I-IDS) on the Kitt Peak 2.1-m telescope, we found V794 Aql at B = 20.2 on June 26, 27 and 29. The spectrum showed only very narrow (0.5 nm) Balmer emission lines. This low-state behavior is similar to, but more extreme than, that of MV Lyr. IP Peg is a new (IBVS 2653), high-inclination dwarf nova. Time-resolved spectrophotometry in the blue, using the I-IDS on the Kitt Peak 2.1-m telescope on June 26, 27, 28 and 29, shows a low-excitation spectrum with widely- spaced (1000 km/s) disk components. We see no S-wave, in spite of a very strong hump in the light curve preceding eclipse. Emission-line amplitude is ~ 150 km/s, with no evidence of a secondary spectrum. All emission lines have a strong rotational disturbance during the deep eclipse." V1329 CYGNI This object, generally in the magnitude range 12.5-13.8, has recently been bright: July 5.3 UT, 11.8 (R. Ducoty, Capitola, CA); 7.9, 12.0 (M. Verdenet, Bourbon-Lancy, France); 8.9, 12.0 (Ducoty); 17.2, 11.8 (Ducoty); 18.3, 12.5 (Ducoty); 19.3, 12.9 (Ducoty). PERIODIC COMET GIACOBINI-ZINNER (1984e) R. R. Joyce and J. C.
