PERIODIC COMET BROOKS 2 (1987m)
     J. Gibson reports his recovery of this comet on CCD exposures
obtained with the 1.5-m reflector (+ Gunn r filter) at Palomar, as
shown below. On Apr. 11 there was a possible 0'.2 narrow tail in
p.a. about 270 deg. The positions are in agreement with the orbital
elements on MPC 10521 (ephemeris on MPC 11525).

PERIODIC COMET HALLEY (1982i)
     W. Wisniewski, D. Levy, and U. Fink, Lunar and Planetary
Laboratory, report that on Apr. 23.19 UT, P/Halley was at m1 = 13.77
(1.5-m reflector, Mt. Lemmon, red filter, aperture 16"), compared
with m1 = 15.15 on Apr. 20.17 (an increase of 1.38 mag in red),
confirming the outburst indicated on IAUC 4371. Some fading was
noticed on Apr. 24.20. Total visual magnitude estimates: Apr.
24.17, 13.1 (Levy, 0.2-m reflector); 24.23, 12.6 (A. Hale, Las
Cruces, NM, 0.20-m reflector).

SU TAURI
This R CrB-type star is recovering from its recent fading (cf.
IAUC 4269, 4283), as indicated by the following visual magnitude
estimates, provided in part by J. A. Mattei, AAVSO: Jan. 3.5 UT,
16.2 (T. Cragg, Coonabarabran, N.S.W.; apparent minimum); Mar.
10.16, 14.8 (R. Royer, Wrightwood, CA); 29.84, 13.1 (S. Korth,
Monheim, W. Germany); Apr. 17.18, 12.5 (P. Collins, Tucson, AZ).

COMET WILSON (1986l)
     J. R. Ducati and R. D. D. Costa send revised data to correct
their intensity ratios on IAUC 4371: C2 (514 nm/485 nm): 3.30; C3
(406/365): 5.07; H2O+ (700/684): 2.00; CO+ (426/365): 2.06.
     C. M. Humphries, U.K. Schmidt Telescope Unit, reports a faint
gas tail on a 20-min J plate on Mar 29.8 UT; the tail leaves the
plate 4 degrees from the nucleus.

1987 April 24 (4372) Daniel W. E. Green
