IAUC 4026, 4027). Visual magnitude estimates: Nov. 28.236 UT, 12.5 (Lubbock); 28.246, 12.3 (Lubbock); 28.270, 12.3 (Hurst); 28.735, 12.7 (R. H. McNaught, Coonabarabran, N.S.W.). NOVA VULPECULAE 1987 A. R. Klemola, Lick Observatory, has measured the following precise position from exposures on a Lick astrograph yellow plate: R.A. = 19h02m32s.151, Decl. = +21 41'39".18 (equinox 1950.0, epoch 1987.88, uncertainty +/- 0".15). He suggests that the prenova may be a star of B = 19 on the Palomar Sky Survey at R.A. = 19h02m32s.120, Decl. = +21 41'39".05 (equinox 1950.0, epoch 1950.46, uncertainty +/- 0".2 to 0".3); this star appears to be blue.
