COMET McNAUGHT-HUGHES (1990g)
Robert H. McNaught reports his discovery of a comet on a U.K.
Schmidt Telescope R plate taken by Shaun M. Hughes at Siding Spring,
as indicated below. The discovery plate, which had cloud interference
at the end of the exposure, shows a moderately condensed 5"
coma. The June 20 exposure was by McNaught with the Uppsala
Southern Schmidt telescope.

COMET LEVY (1990c)
     D. Klinglesmith, Joint Observatory for Cometary Research,
writes: "Observations were made on June 20.36 and 20.40 UT with a
300-mm Nikon lens and a Tektronics 512x512 CCD, yielding a 1.9-
degree field-of-view. Exposures with an H2O+ filter (620.5 nm, FWHM
= 5.0 nm) show an ion tail about 1 deg long at p.a. 259 deg. A red
continuum filter (647.0 nm, FWHM = 5.0 nm) shows only a very faint
hint of a tail perhaps 15'-20' long. A C2 filter (514.0 nm, FWHM =
6.0 nm) shows a round coma of diameter about 7'."

V1333 AQUILAE
     S. A. Ilovaisky and C. Chevalier, Observatoire de Haute-
Provence, write: "Photometric monitoring of the optical counterpart
of the recurrent transient low-mass x-ray binary V1333 Aql (Aquila
X-1), obtained with the 1.2-m OHP reflector (+ RCA3 CCD camera)
between May 27 and June 19 UT, reveals that the source is currently
undergoing an outburst, which started sometime between May 31 and
June 17. The object was observed at V = 17.8, with no change in
brightness, on June 17 and 19. Analysis of available x-ray and
optical data between 1987 and 1990 (IAUC 4675, 4687, 4870) indicates
that the observed outbursts recur every about 295 +/- 10 days.
Further optical monitoring is currently in progress at OHP. X-ray
observations are urgently needed."
