H. McNaught, University of Adelaide, reports that this object (cf. IAUC 5039, 5043) was recorded at magnitude V about 20.5 on a CCD image obtained by E. M. Sadler with the Anglo-Australian Telescope (f/1 focal reducer) on July 21.6 UT. The image was notably fainter than on the discovery R plate. SUPERNOVAE 1990K, 1990M, 1990Q R. Lopez, University of Barcelona; G. Gomez, Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias; M. Breare, Royal Greenwich Observatory; and J. Rodriguez, Observatorio de Roque de los Muchachos (ORM), report: "Low-resolution spectra (range 330-1050 nm) were taken on July 19 with the Faint Objects Spectrograph on the ORM 2.5-m Isaac Newton Telescope of the type-II SN 1990Q in NGC 5917. The first- order spectrum shows a well-marked H-alpha (656.3 nm) P-Cyg profile, from which can be inferred a velocity of about 8600 km/s. Absorptions due to He I (706.5 nm) and the Ca II infrared triplet ('857.9' nm) are also present, giving expansion velocities of about 7000 and 6000 km/s, respectively. The supernova appears as bright as the host galaxy. Low-resolution spectra of the type-Ia SN 1990M in NGC 5493 indicate that this object is about one month past maximum brightness. Spectra are dominated by absorption Fe II blends (492.4, 521.5, 553.5, 620 nm), from which can be inferred expansion velocities in the range of 10 500-13 000 km/s. Absorption features, attributed to O I (777.3 nm) and the Ca II infrared triplet ('857.9' nm), are present. Expansion velocity inferred from these features is about 11 000 km/s. Low-resolution spectra of the type-II SN 1990K in NGC 150 show the characteristic H-alpha (656.3 nm) P-Cyg feature with a well developed emission. The expansion velocity inferred from this feature is about 7600 km/s." COMET LEVY (1990c) Total visual magnitude estimates (cf. IAUC 5042): July 1.31 UT, 8.5 (V. F. de Assis Neto, Sao Francisco de Oliveira, Brazil, 10x70 binoculars); 11.90, 7.8 (J.-C. Merlin, Le Creusot, France, 7x50 binoculars); 15.26, 7.0 (C. S. Morris, Pine Mountain Club, CA, 20x80 binoculars; faint, diffuse tail about 1 deg long); 20.26, 6.7 (Morris, Whitaker Peak, CA); 21.94, 6.7 (Merlin; 2 deg tail); 23.97, 6.6 (J. Shanklin, Cambridge, England, 7x50 binoculars). 1990 July 24 (5057) Daniel W. E. Green
