COMET HELIN-LAWRENCE (1991l)
Eleanor F. Helin and Kenneth J. Lawrence report their discovery
of a comet, as follows:

     1991 UT R.A. (1950) Decl. m1 Observer
     Mar. 17.40191 13 32 10.92 + 8 52 13.4 15 Helin
          17.42483 13 32 08.94 + 8 52 15.7 "
          19.69248 13 29 19.55 + 8 56 41.2 15 McNaught

E. Helin, K. Lawrence, and P. Rose (Palomar). 0.46-m Schmidt telescope
films. Measured by Lawrence. Comet image extremely dense,
with a tail fanning to the north-northeast.
R. H. McNaught (Siding Spring). Uppsala Southern Schmidt telescope.
  Comet strongly condensed; comatic images.

NOVA IN M31
     K. Birkle, Max Planck Institute for Astronomy, Heidelberg,
telexes: "I have found a starlike object, probably a nova, on R
photographs of M31 taken by U. Thiele and myself with the 0.80-m Schmidt
telescope of Calar Alto Observatory. This object was not visible on
Schmidt plates taken earlier than 1990 Dec. 12.88 UT. The object is
located at R.A. = 0h40m26s, Decl. = +40 43'.5 (equinox 1950.0), or
about 330" east and 480" north of the nucleus of the satellite galaxy
M32.  On 1991 Jan. 2.81 UT, the object was fainter than R = 19;
R remained nearly constant at about 18.5 from Jan. 3.82 until at
least Feb. 14.79. On objective prism plates taken Jan. 18.82,
strong H-alpha emission, but no continuum, is visible. In narrow-
band CCD observations by G. Thimm and myself at the prime focus of
the Calar Alto 3.5-m telescope on Feb. 11.79, this object shows
strong H-alpha emission, but is invisible at He I 587.6-nm and in
the 680.0- to 698.0-nm continuum."

SUPERNOVA 1991G IN NGC 4088
     N. Samus, Institute of Astronomy, Moscow, reports that Tsvetkov
observed this object at mpg = 16.0 on Mar. 9.95 UT.

PERIODIC COMET HALLEY (1986 III)
Corrigendum. On IAUC 5206, lines 4-5, for V = 19.88 read V = 21.88
