SUPERNOVA 1991Z IN ANONYMOUS GALAXY
     R. H. McNaught, Anglo-Australian Observatory, reports his
discovery, on a U.K. Schmidt Telescope R plate taken by S. M. Hughes on
May 6.5 UT, of an apparent supernova (mag about 20) located at R.A.
= 10h52m08s.11, Decl. = -3 56'28".7 (equinox 1950.0), which is 10".1
east and 4".5 north of the galaxy nucleus. No image appears at this
position on J and R survey films. A nearby star of mag about 16.5
is located at R.A. = 10h52m15s.85, Decl. = -3 55'28".6.

SVS 13
     N. Mauron and E. Thouvenot, Toulouse Observatory, communicate:
"We have discovered an optical outburst of the young object SVS 13,
located at R.A. = 3h25m58s.15, Decl. = +31 05'45".2 (equinox 1950.0),
near the chain HH 7-11 in the Perseus complex. CCD frames obtained
on 1990 Dec. 19 with the Pic-du-Midi 2-m telescope gave magnitudes R
= 18.0, I = 15.4. The object was similarly bright on a white-light
CCD frame obtained at the 0.60-m amateur telescope on 1990 Sept. 23.
Comparison with previous images taken near 1984 (Strom et al. 1986,
Ap.J. Suppl. 62, 39) indicates a brightening of about 3.4 mag in I
within 6 years or less. The object may be a new rare FU Ori
variable. Interested individuals may contact us via e-mail at
MAURON@FROMP51.EARN."
