NOVA SCORPII 1992
     This object has undergone a noticeable brightening, as indicated
by the following photometry:  June 8.70 UT, V = 8.36, B-V =
+1.05, U-B = +0.09 (W. H. Allen, Carter Observatory, observing as
noted on IAUC 5536); June 10.44, 7.93, +1.10, +0.07 (Allen); June
10.488, 7.86 +/- 0.01, +1.05 +/- 0.01, +0.03 +/- 0.04, V-R = +0.76
+/- 0.01, V-I = +1.57 +/- 0.05 (P. M. Kilmartin, Mount John
University Observatory).


SUPERNOVA 1992ab IN NGC 6389
     A. V. Filippenko, T. Matheson, and L. C. Ho, University of
California at Berkeley, report that CCD spectra (range 320-1000 nm)
obtained on June 10 UT with the Shane 3-m reflector at Lick Observatory
confirm that SN 1992ab (cf. IAUC 5534) is a supernova.  The
prominent hydrogen Balmer lines indicate a type II classification.
The emission component of the H-alpha profile is much stronger than
the absorption component.
