R CrB VARIABLES
     Dr. V. L. Matchett, Brisbane, cables that RS Tel was observed
by M. V. Jones to be at mv = 14 on Feb. 21.7 UT. According to Roy.
Astron. Soc. N.Z. Variable Star Sec. No. M75/1 M. V. Jones and also
A. F. Jones observed this star at mv = 9.0 during January.

     The following selected visual magnitude estimates of SU Tau
have been reported: Jan. 1.83, 10.6 (U. Surawski, Wilhelm Foerster
Observatory); 6.80, 11.1 (D. P. Elias, Athens Observatory); 8.82,
10.8 (Surawski); 9, 11.8 (W. E. Pennell, Lincoln, England); 12,
12.5 (Pennell); 12.79, 10.8 (Surawski); 14.79, 12.2: (Surawski);
16.84, 12.6 (Elias); 17, 13.0 (Pennell); 17.02, 12.9 (Surawski);
21.17, 13.8 (E. Mayer, Barberton, Ohio); 24.1, 13.6 (C. Hurless,
Lima, Ohio); 24.1, 13.5 (L. C. Peltier, Deiphos, Ohio); Feb. 1.03,
15.2 (C. Scovil, Stamford, Connecticut); 3.09, 14.5 (Mayer).

COMET WEST
     Dr. R. M. West, European Southern Observatory, communicates
the following precise positions for the beginning and end of the
trail. The times should perhaps be reversed (cf. IAUC 2741, 2742).

     1974 UT             R. A. (1950) Decl.
     Oct. 15.1285      1 05 51.6    -49 57 59
          15.1701      1 05 48.7    -49 57 56

Examination of other E.S.O. plates has not produced any further
images of the comet. Other observers in the southern hemisphere
are urged to inspect their plates for possible images.

PERIODIC COMET ENCKE
     Mr. A. C. Gilmore, Carter Observatory, communicates the
following precise position, measured by Pamela M. Kilmartin from a
plate taken by R. R. D. Austin with the 25-cm f/7 astrograph at
Mount John University Observatory. The comet had a central condensation,
of magnitude 9.5 and 30" in diameter, in the center of a circular
coma about 3' in diameter.
