Karachentsev and I. M. Kopylov, Special Astrophysical Observatory, have discovered a probable supernova 27" due east of the nucleus of the interacting galaxy VV 5-42-11 = Zw 171-20 (R.A. = 17h52m.2, Decl. = +30o43', equinox 1950.0). On Apr. 30.0 UT mpg was 19.0. NOVA IN LARGE MAGELLANIC CLOUD B. M. Lewis, Carter Observatory, communicates the following photometric measurements (subsequently amended), made by W. S. G. Walker, Auckland Observatory, of the second recent LMC nova (cf. IAUC 3049): Mar. 24.431 UT, V = 12.65, B-V = -0.05, U-B = -0.75; 28.349, 13.07, -0.07, -0.73; Apr. 3.378, 13.46, +0.07, -0.68. NO METEORS FROM PERIODIC COMET GRIGG-SKJELLERUP H. Povenmire writes that the Florida Fireball Network observed the expected radiant (IAUC 3055) between Apr. 23d00h and 23d03h UT with moderately good conditions. No associated meteors were seen. 1977 May 6 (3069) Brian G. Marsden
