COMET MEIER (1978f)
H. L. Giclas, Lowell Observatory, communicates the following
precise positions. Measurer: M. L. Kantz.
1978 UT R. A. (1950) Decl. m1
Apr. 27.24167 7 18 41.38 +53 50 13.5 9.5-10

J. S. Neff, V. V. Smith, M. Claussen and D. Riggenberg, University
of Iowa, report that spectroscopic observations on May 1.1 UT
(range 3150-8600 A) show a moderately strong continuum, strong CN
emission and moderate C2 emission.
PERIODIC COMET CLARK (1978g)
Following a tentative report from T. Seki that he had recovered
this comet on Apr. 13, Y. Kozai, Tokyo Astronomical Observatory,
cables further observations by Seki on Apr. 26 and 27. Positions
are in good agreement with the prediction on IAUC 3155 assuming the
correction Delta-T = -0.04 day. The following observations are available:
1978 UT R. A. (1950) Decl. m1 Observer

T. Seki (Geisei). Images poor and faint (on Apr. 26 and 27).
G. Schwartz and C.-Y. Shao (Harvard College Observatory, Agassiz
Station). Image somewhat diffuse (through clouds).
PERIODIC COMET GIACOBINI-ZINNER (1978h)
Shao and Schwartz have also recovered this comet as a faint,
diffuse spot on exposures with the Agassiz telescope. The positions
are in good agreement with the prediction on IAUC 3167.
