EXO 0748-676
     M. Mouchet, Observatoire de Meudon; L. P. Angebault, European
Southern Observatory; and S. A. Ilovaisky, Observatoire de Besancon,
communicate: "We have made further optical observations of
this bursting, dipping, eclipsing, transient x-ray source (cf. IAUC
4039, 4043, 4054, 4057) at La Silla. Fast photometry with 100-ms
resolution was obtained (in white light) with the ESO 3.6-m reflector
during Apr. 24.040-24.150 and 25.083-25.127 UT. Two strong
bursts were detected on each night, separated by 2.5 hr and 17 min,
respectively, with rise-times between 4-8 s and tails lasting 30-80 s.
A broad dip of 0.25-magnitude amplitude was observed on Apr. 24
at the expected time of an x-ray eclipse (using the ephemeris on
IAUC 4057). Similar weaker features are present elsewhere in the
light curve. The second run did not cover a predicted x-ray
eclipse. Photoelectric photometry with the 3.6-m telescope gave V
= 17.2 and B-V = +0.1 on Apr. 24. Blue and red CCD spectra taken
simultaneously with the 2.2-m ESO/Max-Planck-Institut telescope are
similar to those described by Pedersen et al. (IAUC 4047) but with
weaker emission lines."

QSO 1156+295
     H. R. Miller, Georgia State University, reports that an
observation on Apr. 23 UT with the Lowell Observatory 1.07-m telescope
gave V = 14.6 (cf. IAUC 4057).

IR GEMINORUM
Visual magnitude estimates by M. Verdenet, Bourbon-Lancy,
France: Apr. 17.7 UT, 11.4; 18.7, 12.1; 19.7, 13.3.

NOTICE CONCERNING TELEGRAMS
It is once again an 'open season' for making changes in the
list of subscribers to the Central Bureau's telegram service.
Subscribers who wish to make address changes, category changes, etc.,
are requested to inform us of said changes by July 31. We regret
that a charge of S50.00 must be made for address changes and
deletions (but not additions) outside these biannual seasons.
