COMET HARTLEY (1985f)
Malcolm Hartley, U.K. Schmidt Telescope Unit, reports his
discovery of a comet on a pair of plates with the 1.2-m Schmidt as
follows. There is a prominent tail extending > 1' southeastward.

SUPERNOVAE
     E. P. Aksenov, Sternberg Astronomical Institute, communicates
a report from Yu. V. Terebizh, Crimean Southern Station, that N.
Metlova has discovered supernova 1985L 68" west and 51" north of
the nucleus of NGC 5033 (R.A. = 13h11m2, Decl. = +36deg52', equinox 1950.0).
On June 13.90 UT the object was at mpg = 12.5.

     B. Leibundgut and T. Albert report the discovery of a faint
supernova 1985M with the Las Campanas 1-m telescope on June 16.4
UT (and confirmed on June 17.3). The object lies 1" west and 8"
south of the nucleus of an anonymous galaxy at R.A. = 22h05m18s, Decl. =
-48deg45'0 (equinox 1950.0).

H0139-68
     M. Cropper, University of Cape Town, reports that polarimetric
observations on June 17 and 18 with the 1.9-m telescope at the
South African Astronomical Observatory show that H0139-68 has
returned to a high state (V ~ 15.3-16.5), after two years in a low
state. The object is again strongly linearly and circularly
polarized (0 to 13 and -6 to 18 percent, respectively).
