Mueller reports her discovery of a supernova in an anonymous galaxy at R.A. = 0h20m.3, Decl. = +6 33' (equinox 1950.0). The supernova (mag about 18) is located 13".4 east of the galaxy nucleus. The red discovery plate was taken by Mueller and J. D. Mendenhall on Oct. 15 UT with the 1.2-m Oschin Telescope in the course of the second Palomar Sky Survey. A spectrum obtained at the Hale 5-m telescope (+ 4-shooter + spectrograph) by G. Djorgovski, D. Thompson, and J. Smith shows a prominent, broad emission line coincident in wavelength with the H-alpha and nitrogen emission from the galaxy (redshift about 7680 km/s), indicating a probable type-II supernova.
